Port Douglas - Low Islands

One of the few benefits of it being too hot to sleep is that I was able to get up early to capture the sunrise from the beach opposite our hotel. Think it was worth it....

Not sure what these guys were doing before sun rise but they were shifting as a result I didn't quite get the exposure right.

I was able to set this up with more care ....

........ and again as the sun appeared.

Later in the morning we went on a Catamaran trip to the Low Islands. 8NM from Port Douglas these are the inside edge of the Great Barrier Reef.

This cay island is surrounded by a coral reef where we were able to snorkel. Spotting many fish and turtles.

These reef sharks were at the back of the boat as we ate lunch.....

Needless to say Carol and I were not the only folk to decline the opportunity for an after lunch swim...
